How will Saudi Arabia react to the airport attack?

Saudi Arabia announced it will give a decisive response against the Houthis following the Riyadh Airport attack

FreeNews.TR / Riyadh – The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen announced that it will give a "decisive" response against the Houthis following the attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on October 10. At least 12 people lost their lives and 309 people were injured in the attack.

Coalition Spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Maliki described the attack as "a full-scale war crime under international humanitarian law." Al-Maliki stated, "This terrorist attack will be met with a decisive response within the framework of international humanitarian law and the rules of war."

Following the attack, claims spread on social media that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had personally ordered a "decisive retaliatory strike." However, there is no confirmation of this in official statements; the statements are made through the coalition command. Coalition forces have been carrying out large-scale air operations in Yemen in recent days targeting Houthi missile launchers, depots, and command centers.

While the Houthis did not directly claim responsibility for the attack, they warned airlines not to use Saudi airports and airspace. US President Donald Trump described the attack as "unacceptable" and stated that they were considering the possibility of joining Saudi Arabia's operations against the Houthis.

Conflicts in Yemen have been escalating since the summer months. Mutual attacks continue between the Saudi-backed government forces and the Houthis; the latest attack targeting the Riyadh airport has been recorded as one of the deadliest events on the kingdom's soil in the last decade.
